Snowflake Challenge Day Two
Jan. 3rd, 2020 06:11 pmToday's challenge is to talk about my fannish history. I kinda did that with the first challenge but figured I'd go a bit more in-depth as to how I participated in fandom when I was younger and how it led to how I participate in it now.
As I said before, I consider X-Men as my first fandom. I don't remember if I made up stories in my head for it or not.
I do know that by the mid 80s I was a big fan of the Norwegian band a-ha and made up stories about the group. Sometimes I was the love interest of the lead singer, Morton, and sometimes I was his adopted sister (don't ask).
When the show Airwolf was on, I made up stories where I was the love interest of the main character, Stringfellow Hawk. I've been told that that was my self-insert period (I'm not so sure because my name was Tracy (I had a period where I hated my name)). And I remember doing the same for movies and other shows but not like I did with Airwolf.
I have a habit of making up stories in my head while trying to fall asleep, sometimes while driving, and almost all the time when working (I do data entry and it can get boring).
This is how I come up with most of the plots for my stories. If I'm not currently working on a story, I'll just let my mind wander. Of course right now I have two that I really want to finish. One is the epic Teen Wolf I mentioned Wednesday and the other is one I recently rediscovered on my hard drive that I started after the 2016 election.
My muses love to give me words/images for these two stories, until I sit down at my laptop, that is.
