Plans for the weekend:
Clean the kitchen, living room, and bedroom.

What got done this weekend:
Most of the kitchen and living room.

My original plan (made prior to Thursday night) was to clean the kitchen and living room Friday since I was off for the holiday and then clean my bedroom Saturday. But at dinner Thursday (Saturday was my birthday but my daughter and son-in-law had a wedding to attend so we got together Thursday for my birthday instead) my mother said she wanted to come over Saturday (now that I'm an adult and don't really care as much, she insists on spending my actual birthday with me).

So I altered my plans in that I would clean my bedroom Saturday night instead of during the day. However, I only finished wiping down the counters and stove Friday. I have been fighting a toothache for a couple of weeks now and my head was hurting a bit Friday even though my tooth wasn't.

I know how my mother feels about sitting in my house when it's not 'clean' (meaning when there is clutter and visible dust) so I called off Saturday and managed to dust everything except the two side tables and the bar. I also didn't vacuum.

I had planned to vacuum after 9 because I could turn the air down and wouldn't get as hot but I was just done. So I took a shower instead.

I did walk this morning, it actually felt good after not walking for over a week. The whole time I was getting ready I was saying that I did not want to but I knew I should, so I did. I wanted to keep going after the first commercial break but my knee gave just the tiniest bit and I decided to stop rather than risk tripping and falling.

Beta Reader Call!

Beta Reader Call!

Hi friends! I’m looking for a beta reader (or two) to give feedback on my VERY rough completed first draft of a contemporary queer romance/WLW novel. It’s a heartwarming, emotional, and intimate story about two best friends who end up in a surprise Vegas marriage—only to discover they’re expecting a baby.

Genre: Contemporary WLW Romance / Queer Domestic Drama

Length: Approx. 60,629 words (I’m looking to get it up to 70k)

Content Tags: Accidental pregnancy, friends-to-lovers, secret marriage, queer rep, chosen family, birth scenes, emotional healing, moderate spice, single-parent backstory, hurt/comfort

CW: Pregnancy complications (non-fatal), difficult ex, fertility struggles (in epilogue)

Looking for feedback on:

  • Character development + emotional arcs

  • Pacing and structure

  • Believability of relationship progression

  • Any parts that felt confusing, repetitive, or lacking payoff

  • General impressions and reactions

  • Continuity

If you love messy love stories, slow burn emotional intimacy, and queer joy with a sprinkle of angst and domestic fluff, this one’s for you.

Note: I’m chronically ill and have been writing this story in pieces since 2022- some things may not make sense or line up due to my illnesses and how I’ve been writing (damn brain fog and forgetfulness). Continuity checking is important.

I cannot provide swap services at this time. I work and I’m in school on top of being ill.

I’m a sensitive person when it comes to my art. Offer me advice wrapped up in praise and not just harsh red pen all over my work.

Just drop a comment or DM me. Thanks in advance for your time and support!

Lots of folks want to see more activity on Dreamwidth. While researching community activities, I came across the idea of thematic meet and greet events. That seemed like something which might work here, given a membership of several hundred people and a new theme each month. So I made one for this month's theme. It gives people a place to meet folks with similar interests, and to squee about the current theme.

Here is the basic outline. Fill in as much or as little of it as you wish, depending on your interests as they relate to the Westerns Bingo Fest.

We're having to rebuild the search server again (previously, previously). It will take a few days to reindex all the content.

Meanwhile search services should be running, but probably returning no results or incomplete results for most queries.

Plans for the weekend:
Clean the kitchen and living room (since I did laundry last week instead), do the dishes (still two separate chores), work on my fic, meal prep for the coming week

What got done:
Clean the kitchen (sort of, explanation down below), the dishes (mostly, still have to put them away), wrote some on my fic (this thing will never be finished!), meal prepped for the coming week

So, my plan is always to clean Friday and Saturday nights. But this week I got sick starting around mid morning Friday and lasting until the early morning hours of Saturday. I figured that I could do everything other than the vacuuming (I need to pull furniture away from the walls and I so did not have the energy points for that). But I didn't.

I then told myself that I would clean the kitchen. And I did. Sort of. I wiped down the sink and the counter surrounding the sink and then realized as I was getting ready for bed, that I forgot to do the stove side of the kitchen. *face palm*

When I was at the store last week, I bought some steak strips for crock pot fajitas and two pounds of ground beef. When I went to put the steak strips in the fridge to thaw, I noticed that I only got one pound and the recipe calls for two pounds so I thawed the ground beef instead. I have prepped several tacos and now just need to make some rice to use up the last of the ground beef.

I had every intention of walking this morning but I was awakened by a massive cramp in my right ankle around midnight. The pain was so bad, I thought I was going to throw up. I had difficulty falling back to sleep and ended up sleeping through my alarm.

My birthday is Saturday and every year I get myself something. This year I got two window mounted cameras. I have one on the living room window (there are a lot of arguments that happen out of range of my Ring camera) and the other on my bedroom window so I can keep an eye on my car.

The white SUV to the far right of the picture is my car. The tree has been dead for the entire two years I have lived here. A month or so ago, one of the branches fell and just barely scraped my window. I really wish management would have the tree removed but at least they finally trimmed it so you don't get hit by branches when you walk past it.
