For those who know I live in Texas, everything's fine. They herded us all into the mailroom at 2. Then around 2:30 made us go into an even smaller room when there was a tornado spotted just a few blocks away, it was reported that it touched down. My office never lost power but the apartment did, had to reset some clocks when I got home.

Here's what living in Texas means: while we do get winter weather, we rarely get the type of weather we got this past week. And when we do, it goes back to what people think of when you say 'Texas' with no warning.

Y'all remember the picture I posted yesterday, right? Well, I looked outside around 4 today and saw this:

Also, it barely got out of the teens all week. Yesterday it did get to the low to mid 20s. As far as I know. If it got any higher, I'm unaware of it. Today it's been almost 50, hence the melted snow and ice.

For comparison here are some pictures Vic took of the snow yesterday:

As long as it doesn't snow again tomorrow I'll be able to drive myself to work on Monday. I hate having to be dependent on someone else for my transportation and so am hoping there's no more snow and ice.

So I got up this morning with every intention of going to work. Until I looked outside and saw this:

If there wasn't ice under all that snow, I'd get out and go to work but without being able to see the ice I don't want to risk it.

As y'all know I live in Texas. While we do get winter weather, we don't usually get anything like some other southern states.

That being said, Monday we got a winter weather watch that turned quickly into a winter weather warning. It began raining, then sleeting and by the time I got up yesterday it had started snowing in some places.

If it had been just snow, I'd've been able to go to work. But under the snow was a thick layer of ice. I refuse to risk damage to my car, since I can't afford to get it fixed should I crash, so I stayed home.

I was hoping I'd be able to go to work today but looking outside

combined with the rolling blackouts and my father saying he doesn't think I should drive, has me staying home another day. *sigh*

Ya know, when I can go to work, I don't want to and when I can't, I do. Of course most of that is because I really can't afford to lose another day of pay but if I can't drive, I can't drive.

I wonder if Governor Perry declares this area a disaster area if CMI has to pay us because we couldn't get out to go to work?
