Snowflake Challenge Day One

It's Snowflake Challenge time again!
Every year it always starts with an introduction post. And every year, mine is slightly different from the year before.;-P Here's hoping I can remember to include everything I want to say.
My name is Melissa. I go by logans_girl2001 online, I will explain why later. I recently found out that I am considered a fandom old because I have been active in fandom since 2000. It is hard to believe that it has been twenty-one years already! So much has happened.
My very first fandom was X-men. My brother, who is three years older, would occasionally get the comics, and once finished with them, he'd give them to me. My faves were/are Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, and Angel.
From there, I moved on to tv shows. Specifically, Airwolf. I would make up stories in my head where I was Stringfellow's love interest. Don't judge me. It was a weird period in my life.
I then moved on tomy own version of bandom. I fell in love with the Norwegian pop band a-ha. The stories changed to one of two types.
1) I was the lead singer's adopted sister
2) I was his love interest
Again, it was a weird period in my life. I had been kinda, maybe, popular, and then puberty hit, and I got fat and lost a bunch of friends when we moved to middle school/high school.
From a-ha, there was a time when I was the adopted daughter of Adam Ant or Billy Idol. And how they came to be my dad was always the same: they found me as an orphan living on the streets while on tour in America.
There was also a period where I was a member of a girl group who was married to the actor Sasha Mitchell.
AGAIN, IT WAS A VERY WEIRD PERIOD IN MY LIFE.
I tried to write a novel, but when I showed it to my English teacher, she tore it to shreds, and my confidence with it.
When the X-men movie came out, I wasn't sure I'd be able to watch it because they changed the uniforms and cast 6'3 Hugh Jackman to play 5'3 Wolverine. But I went to see it when it was at the discounted movies and actually liked it. Enough to try writing again.
The story that came out of my fingers is the only one that will never be posted anywhere. I did have it posted for a while but took it down when I realized just how bad it actually is. I might rewrite it someday, but not now.
At this same time, I was watching Farscape on Sci-Fi channel. But it wasn't until The Invisible Man premiered that I became involved in fandom for the first time.
I was reading fanfiction and interacting with other fans on the bboards. When I first joined the bboards, I had misspelled the name I wanted, and when I went to fix it, I discovered it was already taken. So I decided to show my first love: Logan. I chose logans_girl, but that was already taken, and one of the suggestions was logans_girl2001 (I made the account in 2001). And that's how I got my username!
I started watching CSI: Miami, and while I liked it, I didn't feel the need to read fic or participate in fandom.
Until the show killed off Tim Speedle.
I hadn't really paid any attention to him until I read a 'Tim's not dead' fic written by Bev 'BJ' Jones. She had developed this world where Vampires exist, and Tim is one. I was one of the first people to join her yahoo group.
And then I had an idea for a story. But at this point in my life, I was still convinced that I had no business attempting to write, despite getting positive feedback from the yahoo group I had posted my X-men story to.
No one took my idea and then in 2005, while in the bathroom at work, I heard Tim telling me about this story, with the original version here.
From there, I branched out to other fandoms. There are some I refuse to ever write in (SPN) and some I'm surprised I'm writing in (TW).
According to AO3, I have written sixty-five stories. Although, I guess I should actually say that I have posted sixty-five stories to my AO3 account.
So, that's my fandom history. I look forward to the challenges this year. I'm actually feeling a bit more optimistic, so I'm planning on doing them all. But we all know what they say about plans, right? Right.
For the people who have done this challenge before, welcome back! For those who are doing it for the first time, welcome, glad you could join us!

Date: 2021-01-01 09:33 pm (UTC)I'm at loose ends right now after finishing a story I've been working on for two years. I tried to get back to Rogue but I guess Dean is too busy getting fucked by Carter to speak to me. Least that little bitch could do is let me watch!

Date: 2021-01-01 08:59 pm (UTC)*laugh* My mother read me The Hobbit when I was 4.
Re: Thoughts
Date: 2021-01-01 09:38 pm (UTC)But I was told that since I remember when we had to hide that we write fanfiction, and had to have disclaimers on our fic, and remember EVEN ONE LiveJournal purge (or the ff.net purge), then I'm a fandom old. Which is fine by me. I know how old I am and celebrate it every year on my birthday.

Date: 2021-01-02 03:52 pm (UTC)Not sure if any fen have embraced Fandom Older than Dirt, which was how the Grand Old Men were styling themselves when I was still green. (Occasionally their queens would descend from the heavens but otherwise the Celestial Women of Gaming didn't inhabit the common plane.)
