Apr. 23rd, 2015 06:44 pmI meant to post this last night but I got lazy.
Due to what happened Monday I took Tuesday off because I just needed the day. I fully planned on just vegging on the couch but actually made my bed (I hadn't put the sheets on in two weeks) and emptied, and put away the laundry (again hadn't done this in two weeks).
When I got to work yesterday I went to submit my PTO for Tuesday and found that my PTO balance was/is negative fifty-seven point sixty-nine. I took this, combined with everything else, to mean that I was going to be fired.
I called my mother fully hoping she'd tell me I could just quit and her and my dad would help as best they could until I got another job. But she didn't. She told me to just do my job until they actually tell me I'm fired. So I did.
And boy am I glad I did. But I'll get to that in a minute.
When it became obvious that they weren't going to fire me yesterday I figured they were taking back all the PTO I've used so far and that I would then have a very small check (fifty-seven hours is a week two days and one hour leaving me with just under three days of pay or $284.28 before taxes). This meant that I would have to borrow money again from my parents to pay my rent. Also, my next check will be short eleven hours because I don't have PTO available.
Then I came in this morning and found the following email:
This is why I'm glad I didn't walk out yesterday. Although I did take home everything that I don't currently need to do my job.
I am still stepping up my job search because I am so done with this place.
And while I'm glad I'm not getting fired (at least not right now) I am bummed that I won't be able to go to SC in September to visit with other SGA fans. I was so looking forward to that.
Oh, and it has become obvious that my main issue (in regards to my almost falling asleep at work) was that I wasn't getting enough sleep. I had my alarm set for 4:30 but usually got up closer to 4. I now have it set for 5 and get up just a few minutes before my alarm goes off. I started it yesterday and didn't feel like I was risking falling asleep with each blink until almost time for lunch and then again after 3. And today it didn't start until after 10 and again around 1:30 but I was able to fight it off.

Hello everyone,
All PTO balances have been updated and can be seen in TimeSaver. The updated balances will be seen on the paychecks on the April 24th as well. All future PTO requests in TimeSaver for those without enough PTO to cover have been deleted to avoid negative balances where possible. You can check your balances and re-request the PTO once you have accrued enough to cover the time off. Because of the update, some of you have negative balances. As you accrue hours each pay period, these will become positive again and you will be able to request PTO in the future.
This is why I'm glad I didn't walk out yesterday. Although I did take home everything that I don't currently need to do my job.
