As I said last month, Studio Movie Grill has $2 movies every third Wednesday of the month. This month was The Goonies.
Due to the creeper from last month, I bought two tickets hoping to take my daughter since she loves The Goonies. Only she told me Sunday that she has (had) to work. I planned to go by myself but my mother called me Tuesday to see if I wanted to go with her to see my new great nephew (my brother’s middle daughter had her first child Monday). I told her that I already had plans to go to the movie with my daughter but she had to work. Mom then asked if I have two tickets already. When I said yes she invited herself along. Dad overheard and said he’d like to go. So Mom decided he should be the one to go, if he got home from work in time (sometimes he doesn’t get off until late).
So I get to their house last night and it is indeed Dad who was going to be my ‘date’. He told me that he had planned on just buying his own ticket so we could all go but Mom said he shouldn’t have to do that since I’d already paid for two.
We get to the theater and our seats are in the very back, I knew that but this theater is bigger than I’m used to and so they were further from the screen than I thought they would be.
And there were two women sitting at the counter in front of us. Not really an issue because unless you’re sitting in the front row, there are always going to be people in front of you. What was an issue is the woman sitting in front of me sat hunched over the counter for most of the movie. And not just hunched over it, but watching the people in front of her! And her and the other woman kept getting up to go talk to the people in front of them. It wasn’t until the movie was almost over that I figured out what was going on: they were there with a group of kids for someone’s birthday.
I feel like they didn’t plan it very well. If it was me I would have gotten my seats in the same section as the kids so that I wouldn’t be disturbing the people behind me by getting up often during the movie. But that’s just me.
