Hm, let's see...

I played the flute from sixth grade to ninth. I quit because I just wasn't that good at it and all my friends were taking cosmetology and I wanted to be with them.

In Pennsylvania, where we were living at the time, it was a three year course. But down here in Texas it's a two year course. The teacher refused to allow me to take the first year over, despite my telling her that I basically had no training yet, so I had to take the second year. One of the many problems with this was that the high school I went to didn't have the class. I had to go to the high school across town, but in the same district, and was the only junior in a class of seniors and the only student from Newman Smith at RL Turner.

The other girls instantly hated me, mostly because I was from Smith. There was also the fact that I didn't have the skills I needed.

See, second year is when you start seeing actual clients. I was fine if they wanted a set and curl, a manicure/pedicure, a facial or simple cut and blow-out. But if they wanted something more... yeah, not gonna happen from me.

This one time, the teacher tried to give me a client who wanted me to curl her hair after I cut it, IIRC. I tried to get the teacher alone to tell her I didn't know how to use the professional curling irons that we were to use, they have a long bar that controls the tumbler instead of a simple thumb lever. Since she wouldn't step away from the client, I told her in front of them. And then got my ass chewed for it.

Once she was done, I informed her that this wouldn't have happened if she had let me take first year over since I, ya know, only had half the training I needed.

Also, I've always wanted to learn how to play the violin. Not really sure why I didn't join orchestra back in elementary school but I've always regretted it.
