logans_girl2001My first official post! Below you'll find the list of my movies broken up by how often I've seen them. The ones I've watched for this challenge have a line through them.
But first, my thoughts on Mr. Popper's Penguins:
I found it to be really cute. I love Jim Carrey and this was a good role for him. He's approaching middle age now and really needs to play more roles where he's a father.
I liked that he had a decent relationship with his ex-wife. And seemed to be trying, although not really, with his kids. He did try to talk to his teenage daughter about her boy troubles. In my opinion the fact that he tried, not that he gave her not so good advice, is what counts.
Watching him realize that he missed what was most important, the events in his kids' lives, just like his father did was heartbreaking at times, like when he got fired because he refused to leave the apartment until Captain's egg hatched, only to find out that the chick was already dead.
I think the ending was my favorite. Instead of forcing the owner of Tavern of the Green to sell against her will, he worked a deal so that she got to keep it and he helped her modernize it. And then he took the family to Antarctica to release the penguins into the wild. And Captain lays another egg.
I'd like to see a sequel where they go back to visit and find out that Captain has had several more chicks.
