So, here's what I know so far:
1) Insurance will not pay for the rental. I still have full coverage and if I add Vic as a learning driver it'll just about double. If I go down to liability it'll come down about $30-$40 and adding her as a learning driver will put me just about right where I am now.
2) It is the transmission. Something major broke inside and KIA doesn't rebuild transmissions. It'll cost over $2000 to fix and that includes the $70 tow to the dealership.
I was trying to be an adult and do all this on my own without advice from my parents so when the dealership called and said I had to put $500 down for them to order the transmission I gave him my card number.
My mother just called and suggested they buy me a little car and I give them the money for the payments. If she had called me back during her lunch hour I wouldn't have told them to begin working on the car because I hate to put $2000 in this car when it's not even worth $1000.
I should be able to pay this, with maybe a couple hundred borrowed from my parents. A review of my finances shows that I won't be able to afford it without my parents paying nearly $1000.
Luckily I get child support, and that all my bills (except for electric) have been paid for this month.
