logans_girl2001I don't usually do end of the year reviews but so much has happened this year that I thought I would. But first I need to go back so some of this you've most likely already heard.
Back in 2008 I was fired from an accounting firm for 'being rude to a co-worker' when I 'let' some papers slide off her desk. I was unemployed until April of 2009 when I got a job at a plus sized clothing store called The Avenue.
Then in January of 2010 I got a job at a call center that did inbound calls for Time Warner and a small cable company called SuddenLink (they would get me or a co-worker if they called in and had a past due balance) and outbound calls for Charter Communications and a small cable company that I can't remember the name of but they only serve Montana.
In June of 2011 I missed several days of work due to illness and they tried to fire me because someone marked that I had called off on my day off which put me at six absences instead of five. But they were able to fire me for real a week later because I told a customer exactly what I was told to say to customers: can you ask a friend or family member for money? and for reminding him that he knew he had a bill even if he was out of the country/didn't receive a bill in the mail.
Then in March of 2012 I got a job at Lori's Gifts, a chain of hospital gift shops. Within a few months I was no longer happy with the job despite wanting it to be my very last job (I hate interviewing). But I really started hating the job when in 2013 they created a position and offered it to me. I really feel that they wanted someone else to have it but had to offer it to me first because of seniority then had to scramble to find a way to get me to fail at it.
First they couldn't decide what my daily schedule would be, as in which side (AP or AR) I would be working for on which day. I was having near daily panic attacks and missed some work.
I began looking for another job at this time.
Then I was passed over numerous times for this job whenever someone would leave/be 'promoted'.
Finally in July of 2015 I interviewed for a job and was offered the position right then and there! I put in my two weeks at Lori's and went to work at Cottonwood Financial (the legal name for Cash Store payday loan stores).
I really thought I had found my final job even if I had trouble fitting in with my new co-workers. I should have known something was wrong when they would talk about my job and when I would ask for clarification they would just brush it aside and say they'd tell me later.
I went to work on October 19, the day that would have been the final day of my ninety day probationary period, and was met at the elevator by the two supervisors. They pulled me into an office and had all my belongings in a box on the desk. I was read to from an email that my employment was terminated. I was not allowed to keep the email but they did write the number I needed to call down for me.
When I called I was told that the reason is because I was not performing up to company standards. I countered with the fact that I was never given any feedback about my performance so I thought I was doing well. The HR person told me that the decision was final and I said that I didn't want my job back. Because they did not give me two weeks notice (I've only ever once been given notice about being terminated prior to my last day) I was given the forty five hours I worked plus two weeks severance which gave me a check of over seventeen hundred dollars.
After almost a month of unemployment I got placed at a gasoline consignment company. My first day was actually my interview but I didn't know it until the day was almost over. I'm hopeful that after my temp period is over they will take me permanent.
Along with all this my laptop that I bought back in 2007 died in early August. But I had my Surface so I wasn't too upset. But then my Surface died the same day Cottonwood fired me. I have two months of work on a couple of stories on my Surface because for some reason they didn't copy to my external hard drive when I did my last back-up. So I'm going to have to rewrite those and hope I remember what I had written.
On top of all of this we're having issues with my daughter. She's not doing well in school (was on the verge of flunking out several times) and has now messed around and missed the deadline to register for next semester. And she has nowhere to live because my parents have my niece and her daughter living with them and I cannot have her living with me while I'm on housing.
She has also wrecked her car. She's fine but the car cannot be driven. My mother doesn't want to fix it but my father says we have to because my daughter needs a car for when she gets a job.
My mother told me that my daughter thinks that someone will pay the money she owes so that she can go to school. None of us have it and she has so thoroughly alienated her father's family that there is no one left to help.
I have no idea what to do now. I know she's not going to be happy when I tell her after New Year's that she can't stay any longer but I can't afford to not have housing.
