This was going to be a post about how much I hate my co-workers but then they did something nice for me.
But first, why I was going to say I hate them:
Background: I work at the corporate office of a chain of hospital gift shops. The stores are too small to have an office for the managers to do their daily paperwork so they UPS it all to us. The department is split into three teams so every three weeks my team has to open packages. Two out of the five days one person can open them alone. Thursdays is the day we receive the bulk of the packages so all three members of the team open packages. Wednesday and Friday we usually get two bins full so it goes quicker if two people open them. Today was one such day.
Sometimes I'll just go ahead and open them by myself but I'm still working on November paperwork despite the fact that we closed November last week. I asked LB to help. She said she can't because E told her she has to do some report (she lifted the report she's supposed to be doing) but she wasn't even working on it. She was doing something with deposit slips.
C couldn't help because she was busy doing something that has to be finished today.
If LB had helped we could have knocked it out in about ten minutes. Since she refused it took me thirty minutes. Thirty minutes I did not have to spare on this. Plus someone in the office thinks that because it's in the 40s outside it has to be 72* inside. (spoiler: it doesn't)
About thirty minutes later, I adjusted my bra and the muscle that wraps around my right side and helps my ribs move when I breathe knotted up. If you've never had this happen, lucky you. It hurts like a bitch.
It happens every so often (usually my left side) and usually just a little (stretching to the other side tends to unknot it). But not this time!
No position gave me any relief. It got bad enough that it hurt to breathe and I started crying.
The two ladies who can see my desk from theirs obviously noticed something wasn't right because they started asking if I was okay. Then LB came over (her desk is on the other side of my cube wall). She wanted to call an ambulance but I told her I was fine.
She obviously didn't believe me because she went and got E. So that made me feel better.
But I was still annoyed so I got a pizza for dinner. When I got home my daughter surprised me by having cleaned quite a bit of the living room. She told me she plans to clean the rest (minus my rooms) tomorrow or Friday.
