Randomness and a bit of a rant

logans_girl2001Well, more than a bit, actually.
At my job we have flex hours. You can come in 7-4:30 Monday-Thursday with a thirty minute break and then work 7-11 Friday or 7:30-4 all five days with a thirty minute break or 7-4 all five days with an hour break or 7:30-4:30 all five days with an hour break or 8-5:30 Monday-Thursday with a thirty minute break and 8-12 Friday or 8-4:30 all five days with a thirty minute break or 8-5 all five days with an hour break.
I choose the first schedule. I love having a half day Friday. Mainly because when we get our free half day, I then get a full day off. Not to mention when we have to work overtime, I get five hours. When they force me to go to five eight hour days, I'll lose that.
Now on to the first bit of randomness.
Yesterday I had my housing renewal interview. I've been worrying lately that when Vic graduates I'll lose my housing so I asked. And was told that as long as I qualify, I'll still receive assistance. So, that's a load off my mind. In fact, her answer has me thinking that getting child support may have me paying more than I should especially now that I no longer pay child care.
And the second bit.
I recently came across a rant about how some fic writers think rape means true love. The poster asked how that could be. Well, I'll tell ya. It has to do with all the romance novels, mainly what my mother calls bodice rippers, where the 'hero' rapes the heroine and then they fall in love. And it may also have to do with what has been touted as the greatest love story in daytime drama: Luke and Laura from General Hospital. I never really watched that show but I do know that before Luke and Laura where Luke and Laura, Luke raped her. Most people tended to over look it in the face of their undying love. But not their son. When he found out he was angry at his father for doing that to his mother and angry at her for forgiving him so easily, IIRC, they were married shortly after the rape occurred. So, that's why so many people think that rape=true love.
