I remember back when I applied to Books-A-Million and I did great on the online logic test (because there are logic problems on their online job apps) and I did well, but my background check never came through. I waited, like, a month. I would stop in the store every few days, just to look at a manager and ask if they'd heard anything, and they'd all say they hadn't, so I gave up. None of 'em ever told me I didn't get the job, but I thought patience would score me some points.

But that was me on my own. Your agent should know one way or another if the company doesn't want you. Since he says he's in the dark as much as you are, I'd go ahead and ask him point blank about it.
