I want to rant talk rant about my thoughts about the last two episodes of season five.
I've already mentioned the one thing I hated about 5X24 (Rachel having lied about Charlie being Danny's and Rachel's reason for lying) now I want to talk about why I hate this story line.
Rachel claims that she didn't want to have two children that would be without a father should something happen to Danny. Well, guess what? No matter whose name is on the birth certificate if Danny were to die in the line of duty, you'd still have two children without a father!
Besides (this is the thing that sticks in my craw the most in regards to Rachel) Danny was a cop when she decided to ram her car into his police cruiser. Danny was a cop (probably already thinking about taking the detective's test) when she agreed to date him. He was a cop when she married him. He was a cop when Grace was born. It's no one fault but her own that she woke up one day and regretted marrying a cop. She didn't have to say yes. Danny was still a cop when she started the affair with him after the mess with Matt and when shedemanded asked him leave Hawai'i with her and Grace.
She needs to grow up and admit that the real reason she lied was because she was pissed that he chose Steve over her when Steve was framed for murdering Jameson.
This story line is making me hate Rachel and I like her. I don't agree with anything she's done to Danny but I understood because I'm a mother and I can't say for sure that I wouldn't do the same thing were I her. But to take Grace away because of something that was none of Danny's doing (the shootout at the football game)? Unforgivable. And to expect him to move again just because her husband got a job on the mainland? Uh-uh. Stop thinking about just yourself, Rachel. Grace has two parents and she loves Danny just as much as she loves you.
Someone said that Danny could probably take Rachel to court and get custody of both Grace and Charlie and I agree. With the hell she's put Danny through a judge just might side with Danny. But Danny would never do that. First off, he knows that kids need their mother and second, Charlie doesn't know him and taking him away from Stan (the man Charlie calls 'Dad') would not be in Charlie's best interest.
For the record, I was so disgusted with the writers over this that I didn't pay any attention to the rest of episode, other than to note the bad guy was a former cop who killed some women and that Steve almost killed him just for the hell of it. I believe Steve even said, "A part of me really wants you to try."
And the season finale! God, I hated this one.
I've heard people always talking about how the female fans of a show don't like the women the main male characters are paired with and I admit I'm guilty of that, just not with H50. No, I liked Steve with Catherine (yes, even when she was a part of the team). I didn't like some of the things that happened (the way she left him for one). But I don't think she should come back.
During the scene at HQ I was wondering why she was there and why she was talking like she'd been investigating along with them. She's no longer on the team so she had no business being there.
And her reintroduction? Stupid.
Kono and Adam. I HATE this pairing. First, we were not showing how they met or even how they fell in love. The first indication that Kono had someone on the side was a scene with Chin where she was acting like a school girl with a crush.
And then the 'sex scene'. I don't know about other people but I do not sit around in the shirt of the guy I just had sex with and my panties and day dream about what we did the night before. I might think about it periodically throughout the day and get that stupid grin on my face but that's it. I especially don't sit around thinking about it while he's naked in the shower!
So, no, I am not a fan of the Kono/Adam storyline and really hate that they're getting married (although I love her dress but that stupid curl on her forehead has got to go!). I wanted Kono with Charlie Fong (or a woman).
And then the main plot of the episode. Um, what?
Some guy steals nukes and takes them to Hawai'i? Why? Would detonating them there kill the most people? See, because of the stupid with Rachel from the first episode, I wasn't watching this one either so I don't know. And why did Steve (and Danny) have to be the ones to take the nukes out to the middle of the ocean? Surely there was someone else who could do it.
I'm going to give season six a try but I'm not confident I'll be watching much longer and that's a shame because I really love seeing Alex and Scott on my TV each week.
