Snowflake Challenge Day Twelve and Thirteen

Day 12

In your own space, talk about what you bring to fandom.

For me this ties back to the day we talked about how we got into fandom.

Back in 2000 I was involved in the bboards on the sci-fi channel's website for I-man and Farscape. Then I joined several yahoo groups. One in particular I was very active in: Hobbes' Honeys.

We talked about the character Bobby Hobbes, the actor Paul Ben-Victor, had 'clone' parties and a bunch of other fun stuff. In fact the one and only time someone wrote me something to make me feel better was a member of that group.

I was majorly stressed at work (much like now only for very different reasons since it was a different company) and I got a surprise in my inbox one day with a little story about my clones coming to rescue me from my work.

Oh, yeah, we all had clones of our favorite characters and actors. It was loads of fun.

About that same time I saw the X-men movie and was inspired to write a story for it. Up until that point I was only a reader (some of my first fanfics were for I-man and Farscape). It's actually based more on the comics (which I admit I know little about so I guess it's more based on the cartoon). It's Logan and an OFC. You can read it here if you want. Be warned that it's very rough (it IS my first ever story and I was still learning how to ignore what I'd been taught in English class) and it is not (and mostly likely never will be) finished.

The very first slash story I read was Darien/Bobby. I was hooked. But I didn't think I could write slash so I decided to just be a reader. Imagine my surprise when in 2005 I got bit by a slash bunny!

From those fandoms I moved on to CSI: Miami. Although I wasn't very active in it until I discovered Bev Jones' writing. Specifically her story about how Tim Speedle didn't die during Lost Son because he's a vampire. I was one of the first people to join her yahoo group.

I've always written stories in my head, just never down on paper. But in 2005 I had been listening to a Kelly Clarkson CD and this one song sparked something. I made a post offering the idea for adoption but no one took it. I kept ignoring it until I heard the closing line as plain as if someone was standing next to me.

So I wrote it. You can find it here if you're so inclined to read it. Or read the rewrite here.

From there I've written forty-one stories! Or rather, I've posted forty-one stories! *lol*

So, yeah. That's what I bring to fandom.

Day 13

In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing.

My best friend Rachel is the kind of writer I want to be. You can find her stuff here. If you like what you read, please tell her.
