I know but I'm from the south where kids are seen and not heard and women certainly never ask someone to praise them. That just isn't done because it is selfish.

Plus, I see stories and art that have an author's note saying it's because Soandso was having a bad day. Well, I have tons of bad days and no one has ever done anything just to make me feel better, or to let me know they're thinking of me, and it makes me feel like I don't matter.
