This was going to be a funny post about something awkward that happened this morning and instead is about my stupid ass parents.
As y'all know my parents have decided to help me buy a car. I've had several conversations with my mother about how I'd like to get a KIA Rio because I like the way it drives but I understand I may not be able to afford it. Every time I say that she counters with something along the lines of 'if you can afford it' and mentions that Honda is offering zero down payment right now on the Accord. Every time she says that I reply, "Yes, I understand that. I'm just saying that since the car's already at Central KIA it doesn't hurt to start there."
I now have prove that my mother doesn't listen to a fucking word I say.
What do I mean? When I got home, Vic handed me a folder from my mother. Inside is a typed note, with grammatical errors of course, explaining what my parents expect before they'll agree to take me car shopping.
It's even dated today which means she stopped listening after I got a tiny bit snippy with her last night because we had this very fucking conversation last night!

Melissa,
Please read this and let us know if you agree to the terms stated in this document or not. If you don't agree to this then you might as well go get the car on your own and figure out how you are going to pay for [it] because we won't be there helping.
This is to let you know what we expect from you if we are going to help you buy a car. And this has to be agreed to before we go to any car dealership.
You think your credit is good enough for you to get a car loan on your own*. But we are fairly sure that you would not be able to get it at a[n] interest rate you can afford. You have been late with a lot of bills and past due with a lot of others** which gets reported to the credit reporting services.
We understand that you want to [buy a] [purchase a] particular car, but you have to be open minded on what you will be getting.*** Especially if we are the ones that are going to have to be on the note for the car.
If we have to be the ones to buy the car then there are some things that you need to be aware of and in agreement with before we can move forward with this. If we have to buy the car we can transfer the title to you for a small fee.
If we buy the car we expect you to make the monthly payments to us just like you would if you were repaying the loan. If you can't make the payments then you can choose one of the following:
1. You will agree to give your income tax refunds to us until the total amount of the loan is paid in full.
2. Sell the car for what you can get and still owe us money on the car loan because we will still have the loan to pay off
3. We take possession of the car the same as it would be with the loan company repossessing the car if you don't pay them.****
There will be a contract so that everyone knows exactly what is expected of each other. When we borrowed money from Teri to pay for Victoria to have the tutoring we made a contract with her and we will have one for this as well. In fact we will go get it notarized.
We love you and want to help you. But you need to do your part in this as well.*****
*Actually, what I said was is that my credit is improving so I might be able to get a car on my own. Back to text
**You mean when I was unemployed and couldn't afford to pay? And isn't late and past due the same thing?Back to text
***This is something I told her numerous times and is my proof that she doesn't listen. I know she can hear me (sometimes, the woman needs to get hearing aides) but she doesn't fucking listen. Back to text
****I'm guessing this is to shame me into not getting fired, as if it's always my fault. If an employer wants to get rid of you, then every little thing gives them a reason. Back to text
*****As if I was just going to sit on my ass and let them pay for my fucking car! I paid for all but the last year of the loan on the Sephia because I was working at Walgreens and couldn't afford it any longer. Back to text
